Dover, Del. (Feb. 14, 2023) --- Delaware State goal keeper Yeda Couto-Erickson (so.; Boca Raton, Fla.) has earned the distinction as the first member of the Delaware State women's lacrosse team to receive a weekly conference award. The Atlantic Sun Conference announced today that Couto-Erickson has been selected as its Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week, the first Hornet to earn such recognition in the history of the program. She posted seven saves and recorded a .700 save percentage in 45 minutes between the pipes to help lead the Hornets to a season-opening 16-4 victory over Howard last Saturday (Feb. 11). Delaware State's London Downing was among the nominees for ASUN Player-of-the-Week after topping all players with four goals in the Howard contest. Jacksonville's Sarah Elms was selected for the Player-of-the-Week award, her 10th career honor. The Delaware State women's lacrosse team will play its 2023 home opener this Sunday (Feb. 19) against Akron (OH). Start time is set for 12:00 p.m. at Drass Field on the Delaware State Downtown Campus.
