Joseph Boone, a member of the 2025 All-CIAA Golf Team, qualified for the 2025 VSGA Amateur Championship and the 2025 State Open of Virginia on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025. Boone's qualifying score of even-par 71 finishing 3rd at Lakeside Park Club landed him a spot in the Amateur and State Open. The field consisted of 92 players and the top 10 qualified for the VSGA Amateur and the top 5 qualifiers for the State Open. Boone is a rising junior, and he is entering his third year as a member of the VUU Golf Team. Boone played in the number 2 and 3 positions during the VUU 2024-25 Fall and Spring Golf seasons. The 112th VSGA Amateur will be contested at Birdwood Golf at Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia from June 23rd -27th, 2025. The State Open of Virginia will be contested at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian July 18th -20th, 2025. Independence Golf Club is a par 71, 7,055-yard layout. The tournament is a 54- hole contest featuring a cut to the low 60 players and ties for the third and final round. "This is an excellent opportunity for Boone and The VUU Golf Team and the CIAA Conference to be represented in both the State Amateur and State Open," said Asst.
