The University of the Virgin Islands has launched their new mascot “Bucky”, with branding and design by Phoenix Design Works, at dual graduation ceremonies on their St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses. The new mascot is the most recent asset to be deployed in the University of the Virgin Islands branding program, also created by Phoenix Design Works. Bucky gives a nod to UVI’s Buccaneers, while stylistically bringing forward the deep-rooted history of Mocko Jumbies, whose tall and colorful presence grace Virgin Islands carnivals and other festive scenes. The new mascot will engage with students, fans and UVI constituent groups on both the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses, and function as a goodwill ambassador and representative for the university.
