Recap courtesy of Holy Family University Sports Information PHILADELPHIA – Seven members of the HFU track & field program have earned Indoor All-Region Honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), it was announced this week. The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top three relay teams. Holy Family is a member of the East Region, which features the 20 female and 18 male teams from the East Coast Conference and Northeast 10. Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) and Odane Smith (Saint Catherine, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) were All-Region in two events, with Pierre topping the region in the high jump (2.12m) and ranking second in the triple jump (15.16m). Smith was third in the triple jump (15.08m) and fourth in the long jump (7.21m). Javon Bowen (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) was first in the region with a mark of 7.69m in the long jump, while Isaiah Davenport (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville) was second in the high jump - behind Pierre – with a clearance of 2.04m. Desi Stroud (Mays Landing, N.J./ACIT) was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 7.11m, giving HFU three of the region's top five performer in the event. On the women's side, Sydonia Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) ranked third in the region with a clearance of 1.60m in the high jump, while Ocelia Jones (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/Maggotty) was fourth with a time of 8.73 in the 50m hurdles.
