Roberts Wesleyan's Brynn King turned in an indoor season for the record books and isn't wasting any time doing the same on the outdoor stage. On Thursday, King opened the outdoor season by breaking the NCAA outdoor pole vault record, clearing 4.60m (15' 1") at the Redhawk Invitational in Rochester, N.Y. That bettered the 4.50m (14' 9") set by Grand Valley State's Kristen Hixson in 2014. King only missed at 4.71m (15' 5 1/2"). On Friday, King was named the USTFCCCA East Region Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. She shattered a longstanding NCAA DII record in the pole vault back in December and continued doing so throughout the season until finally topping out at 4.63m (15' 3") to win the event title at the 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships. Not only is King atop the NCAA DII record book, she is also No. 5 in collegiate history, among all divisions.
