(Apr. 24, 2023) --- A record-setting performance by the Delaware State women's golf team has the Hornets within striking distance of the 2023 Northeast Conference championship entering the final round of play at the LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Hornets shot a school-record combined team score of 290, shattering the old mark by four strokes, to vault into second place in the 11-team standings with a two-day total of 603 (+27). The Hornets' day-two total was seven strokes better than the nearest competitor. Defending NEC champ and current leader Sacred Heart posted a combined score of 297 today, and has a two-day team score of 600 (+24). The Pioneers lost seven strokes to Delaware State today after leading the Hornets by 10 after day 1. Delaware State is nine shots ahead of third place Farleigh Dickinson (612; +36) and 13 better than fourth place Howard (616; +40).
