NEW ORLEANS – Oakwood University center/forward Saniya Keys was named the HBCU Athletic Conference's Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week, league officials announced Monday. Keys was honored for her performances between February 10-16. A native of Cottonwood, Ala., Keys averaged 25.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games against Voorhees University. On Wednesday, she recorded a double-double with 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting, and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 72-65 victory. Three days later, Keys scored 19 points and had four rebounds in a loss. For the week, Keys shot 62.5 percent from the field. She continues to lead the league in scoring (19.1) and rebounding (11.2). The honors were the 16th and 17th of her young career.
