TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Survive and advance. That's what the Oakwood University women's basketball team will be trying to do today when it takes on Talladega College in the HBCUAC 2025 Hope Credit Union Championship inside Birthright Alumni Hall at Stillman College. The Ambassadors (10-14) enter the game as the No. 9 seed, while the Tornadoes (9-10) are the No. 8 seed. Tipoff is 12 p.m. The two teams split a pair of games during the regular season. Talladega College won the first game 72-59 on Feb. 1 in Huntsville as Kameron Jones and DeJaria Lewis combined for 32 points, 11 rebounds and nine steals. Oakwood got revenge in the rematch with a 64-55 victory on Feb. 18 in Talladega as Saniya Keys, Trenisha Adams and Morgan Bone combined for 47 points and 21 rebounds. The Ambassadors will go as far as Keys, named the league's Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year Wednesday, takes them. Keys, a 6-0 forward/center, leads the league in scoring (19.2) and is second in rebounding (11.0). She is shooting 54.3 percent from the field to go along with 28 steals and 22 blocks. Adams is averaging 11.8 points and 4.4 rebounds. She also has made a team-high 75 3-pointers to go along with 79 assists and 49 steals. Kamaria Murray is averaging 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and has 61 assists and 33 steals. Jones is averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds to lead the Tornadoes. She has made 80 3-pointers and has 41 steals. Lewis is averaging 10 points and 9.1 rebounds. She has made a team-high 82 3-pointers and has 21 blocks.
