OAKWOOD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLACES FOUR PLAYERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN LOSS TO TENNESSEE SOUTHERN

PULASKI, Tenn. – Oakwood University women's basketball placed four players in double figures Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough to come away with a victory as Tennessee Southern prevailed 93-74 inside the Curry Athletic Complex.   The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 1-4 on the season, while the Firehawks improved to 3-0.   Trenisha Adams led Oakwood with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range. She also had six rebounds, six steals and two assists.   Saniya Keys finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. She was 6-of-12 from the field, made both of her free throws and had two blocks.   Alecia Reasor had 14 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal, while Jatya Lester scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.   The Ambassadors shot 36.8 percent (25-of-68) from the field, including 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from 3-point range, and 81 percent (17-of-21) from the free throw line.   Ramie Reed led Tennessee Southern with 24 points. Silkiari Vazques-Troche finished with a triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists.   Ashley Dickey had 17 points, while Lauren Smith had 12 points and 12 rebounds.   The Firehawks shot 48.5 percent (33-of-68) from the field, including 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from beyond the arc, and 73.1 percent (19-of-26) from the charity stripe.   Oakwood is back in action Saturday night at Trevecca Nazarene.
