BOSSIER CITY, La. – Down 2-0 to Huston-Tillotson Monday night in the 2025 HBCU Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, Oakwood University got up off the mat. The Ambassadors, who had folded in each of the last three years in the postseason, battled back and came within an eyelash of winning their first postseason game in school history. However, when it was over, Huston-Tillotson outlasted Oakwood 3-2 at Coach Billy Montgomery Gym inside Bossier Parish Community College. The Ambassadors fell 19-25, 10-25, 27-25, 25-21 and 13-15. Oakwood finished the season 12-10, while the Rams (15-11) advanced to today's semifinals. After dropping the first two sets, the Ambassadors found some much-needed energy and clawed their way back into the match. Oakwood won the third set 27-25 and won the fourth set 25-21 to force a fifth and deciding set. Neither team led by more than three points in the back-and-forth affair. Oakwood led 6-3 and 9-7 at one point, but Huston-Tillotson battled back and tied the match at 13-all. The Rams scored the game's last two points to eliminate the Ambassadors. Kamaria Murray was one of three Ambassadors to finish with a double-double. She finished with a game-high 17 kills and 11 digs. Murray also had three service aces. Alexis Wiley had 17 assists,17 digs and three service aces, while Cameryn Bucknor finished with 14 digs and 13 assists. Arial Smith had 17 digs and three aces. Anna Jones and Morgan Bone had eight and seven kills, respectively. Lindsey Morris led Huston-Tillotson with 13 kills, while Malaya Bennett finished with 12. Jordis Taylor had a game-high 37 assists, while Taylor Digs finished with a game-high 36 digs.
