HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University women's basketball coach Ronnie Abrams released the Ambassadors' 2025-2026 schedule today and it features 28 games, including 18 HBCU Athletic Conference games, and three exhibition games. The Ambassadors are coming off of back-to-back 10-win seasons and have advanced to the postseason each of the last three years, but have failed to get past the first round. Abrams hopes this is the year his team can do that. "That' s our goal," said Abrams, a former All-American guard for Oakwood. "We've added some pieces and we believe we've got enough firepower to help us be even more competitive than we've been the last couple of years." The Ambassadors open the season tonight at Cumberland (TN) University, before hosting Freed-Hardeman Saturday night in their season opener. Other non-conference games include Pensacola Christian College, Washington Adventist, Tennessee Southern and Southeastern Baptist just to name a few. In addition to its 18 HBCUAC games, Oakwood also will play exhibition games at Trevecca Nazarene, the University of Tennessee-Martin and Troy University. "We've got a very tough schedule, but hopefully it will get us ready for conference play," Abrams said. "We're hanging our hat on being one of the top four seeds in the conference and if we can do that, we feel like we'll have a chance to win it." Oakwood returns two of the top players in the league in sophomore center Saniya Keys and senior guard Trenisha Adams. Keys is the reigning HBCUAC Player of the Year and was named the preseason Player of the Year for the upcoming season. She averaged 19.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game last season. Adams was among the league leaders in scoring, assists, steals and made 3-pointers a year ago.
