Recap courtesy of D'Youville University Sports Information PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The No. 8 D'Youville University Softball Team fell 3-0 to the No. 1 Pace University Setters in the opening round of the NCAA Regional Tournament. BOX SCORE No. 8 D'Youville University 0 vs No. 1 Pace University 3 – Game One It was a defensive battle between the Saints and Setters as pitching prevailed in the first round of the tournament. The Setters, currently ranked No. 14 in the nation got on top first in the bottom of the second off a solo homerun. Pace then added two more runs in the bottom of the third off of two walks and a double to bring the score to 3-0. Summer Clark (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville East) looked to get the offense going as she recorded the first hit of the game for the Saints in the top of the fourth with a single through the left side, but the D'Youville offense halted there. The Saints were unable to cross a run only recording one hit as the Setters took the 3-0 victory. Sarah Parzych (Getzville, N.Y. / Williamsville North) had another strong showing in the circle despite the loss. The Senior threw the complete game recording seven strikeouts while only allowing four hits. Up Next The Saints are not done yet as they will play the loser of the No.4 Bentley University and No.5 St. Thomas Aquinas College matchup being played today.
