Recap courtesy of Molloy University Sports Information NEW CASTLE, DE – The seventh-seeded Molloy baseball team gave the third-seeded Felician Golden Falcons every inch of fight that they could, clinching a game six victory, 7-6, before eventually falling in the tournament's final game, 6-5, Monday afternoon at Wilson Field on the campus of Wilmington University. The Lions conclude the 2025 campaign with a 35-19 record. Game One: Molloy 7, Felician 6 Felician got on the board in the top of the first with a run scoring following a fielders choice. Molloy knotted the contest at one in the bottom of the third after redshirt senior Matthew Gonchar singled home a run. The Lions took a 2-1 in the fourth inning when sophomore Anthony Marsillo poked a single through the right side to bring home senior Patrick Sanchez. The cardinal and white continued to add to its lead in the fifth. Senior Nicholas Dagnello drove a run scoring double into right and Sanchez knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly to open the lead, 4-1. The Golden Falcons cut the deficit in half, 4-2, in the sixth with a run scoring following an error. Molloy responded with two runs right in the bottom of the frame when junior Sean Welsh singled to plate sophomore Joe Burriesci and Marsillo to open its largest lead of the day, 6-2. In the seventh, Felician came within one, 6-5, with one run coming in off a single and two runs crossing the plate following a double into center field. The top of the ninth saw the Golden Falcons tie the game at six after an infield single brought in a run. In the bottom of the ninth, walks from Burriesci and Welsh and an infield single from Gonchar set the table for the win. Graduate student Aidan Larkin stepped to the plate and walked it off a single giving the Lions the victory, 7-6. Gonchar led the offense with three hits while driving in one run. Welsh tallied two hits and two RBI. Dagnello, Larkin, Marsillo, and Sanchez drove in a run each with Marsillo and Burriesci scoring twice. Freshman Jayden Patel picked up the victory tossing the final 1.2 innings allowing one run on one hit. Game Two: Felician 6, Molloy 5 Molloy jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after Gonchar plated Welsh with a ground out. Felician wasted little time, bringing the contest back to all square, 1-1, with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame. In the top of the third junior Jack Coogan recorded a sacrifice fly to plate a run and Marsillo later knocked in a pair with a single setting the score at 4-1. The bottom of the frame saw Felician get two runs right back following a bases loaded walk and a run scoring fielders choice to shrink the deficit to one, 4-3. The following inning saw the Golden Falcons knot the contest at four after a bases loaded walk plated a run. Two innings of scoreless baseball would go by before the cardinal and white retook the lead, 5-4, in the top of the seventh inning after Coogan scored Larkin on a fielder's choice. In the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Falcons scratched across two runs. The first run came across after a wild pitch and they took the lead, 6-5, after an RBI single. Molloy would collect a hit in the eighth and ninth, but Felician would hold them off the scoreboard securing the triumph, 6-5. Gonchar totaled three hits. Dagnello and Sanchez tallied two hits and one run apiece.
