Flushing, NY – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team advanced to its sixth straight East Coast Conference Championship Final with a 4-0 shutout victory over the University of the District of Columbia in the first round on Friday afternoon at the Queens College Tennis Bubble. STAC takes on the top seed and hosts, Queens College, in the ECC Men's Tennis Championship Final on Saturday (April 26) at 4:00 p.m. The Spartans are seeking their second conference title in the last four seasons. Once the sides moved to singles action, there was no turning back for St. Thomas Aquinas, as the maroon and gold claimed the first three matches from the Firebirds to secure the win and advance to Saturday's championship. Henry Ronnberg started the victory spree in the No. 6 slot, taking a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Sebastiano Palma. Erik Victor Tauson followed the trend, taking a 7-5, 6-1 triumph over Elouan Queguiner in the No. 3 slot to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 lead and put UDC on the ropes, facing elimination. Ondrej Sramek delivered the final knockout blow in the No. 5 position, taking a three-set decision (7-5, 1-6, 6-1) against Ghali Ouajahat Filali to end the postseason contest. DOUBLES 1.
