MACK, HAMILITON AND HERNANDEZ COME UP BIG AGAINST TENNESSEE SOUTHERN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Joshua Mack, Tedrus Hamilton and Jorge Hernandez combined for six hits, including two home runs, seven RBI and scored three runs, but it wasn't enough as Tennessee Southern downed Oakwood University 23-7 Tuesday afternoon at John Hunt Park in a non-conference baseball game. The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 0-23 on the season. The Firehawks improved to 10-22. Mack was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, his second on the season, two RBI and scored a run. Hamilton was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run, while Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a 3-run homer, his second on the season, three RBI and scored a run. Akari David and Matthew Gutierrez Dalrymple singled to open the third inning. One out later, Kyler Bradley singled to load the bases. Mack singled to score David to pull Oakwood to within 7-1. One out later, Hamilton singled to score Bradley to make it 7-2. Down 11-2 midway through the fifth inning, the Ambassadors struck again. Hamilton singled to score Bradley, who had walked to open the inning, to pull Oakwood within 11-3. Hernandez then followed with a 3-run homer to make it 11-6. Tennessee Southern responded with six runs in the top of the sixth to go up 17-6. Mack's solo homer in the bottom of the sixth pulled the Ambassadors within 17-7. Bradley, Jeremy Matos, David and Dalrymple had one hit apiece. Bradley scored two runs, while Matos and David scored one each. Bradley (0-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs, six earned, on five hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out four. Oakwood will host Philander Smith Thursday in an HBCU Athletic Conference doubleheader.
