Richmond, VA. – The Saint Augustine's women's basketball team ended its losing streak to win its first CIAA matchup of the season. The Lady Falcons appeared to be heading down the same path as the previous two games when they got down 19-10 in the first quarter, which ended on a 14-4 run for the Panthers. The Lady Falcons got down by as many as 16 in the second quarter after a Hailey Blackwell free throw put the Lady Panthers up 40-24 with :55 remaining in the first half. SAU closed the second quarter trailing at the half 42-28. The Lady Falcons offense began to heat up in the second half as it scored 20 points to cut the lead 57-48 to end the third quarter. The offensive outpouring did not stop as the Lady Falcons kept it going, but also turned on the defense holding the Lady Panthers to 7 points in the quarter. While the defense was rolling, the Lady Falcons still needed offense and with 2:13 remaining,Lauren Banks tied the game 64-64 with an and-one layup. Less than a minute later, Ariyanna Brown beat her man on a backdoor baseline layup and too made her free throw from the foul. VUU had a chance to tie, but was called for an offensive foul, and SAU took the win 69-64.
