HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – Anna Jones, Katie Johnson and Sydney Arnett combined for nine hits, seven runs and four RBI to help Oakwood University complete its three-game sweep over Rust College with a 12-1 victory Monday afternoon in an HBCU Athletic Conference game. Jones was 3-for-3, including a double, an RBI and scored three runs, while Johnson was 3-for-4, including a double, and scored three runs. Arnett was 3-for-4, including a double, three RBI and scored a run. She also picked up the win, limiting the Bearcats to one run on three hits in five innings. Arnett (5-6) struck out nine Rust hitters. Oakwood erupted for 12 runs on 14 hits and didn't commit an error. The Ambassadors, who have now won three straight games for the first time this season, improved to 5-16 overall and 4-5 in league play. The Bearcats fell to 5-23 and 2-6. Jordan Howard went 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored a run. Jaala Howard went 2-for-4 and scored two runs. She opened the game with an inside-the-park home run, her first of the season. Toni Sims went 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored two runs, while Ashlyn Hallman and Mary McCluskey also recorded one RBI apiece. Oakwood is back in action this afternoon at Cumberland University.
