HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Katie Johnson had three hits, scored a run and had an RBI, while Anna Jones went 2-for-3, scored a run and had two RBI, but Campbellsville University swept Oakwood University 16-0 and 17-6 this afternoon at University Field in a non-conference doubleheader. The Ambassadors fell to 1-12 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 13-5. Game 1 Johnson, Jones and Jana Morrow had one hit apiece to lead Oakwood in the opener. Sydney Arnett (1-5) took the loss, allowing nine runs, eight earned and nine hits in four innings. She walked three and struck out four. Campbellsville led 3-0 through three innings, but erupted for six runs in the fourth and seven more in the fifth to win going away. Game 2 Johnson went 2-for-3, scored a run and had an RBI in the nightcap, while Jones and Kaley Fuller had two RBI apiece. Oakwood trailed 12-0 through the middle of the second inning before Jordan Howard's RBI-double scored Toni Sims, who had reached after getting hit by a pitch. The Ambassadors pushed across five more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jones had a two-run single to score Jalaa Hawkins and Johnson to make it 17-3. Fuller's two-run single allowed Howard and Jones to score and Johnson singled to score Fuller to round out the scoring. Hawkins, Sims, Careen Whitehead and Mary McCluskey each had one hit apiece. Ashlyn Hallman (0-3) took the loss, allowing 17 runs, 13 earned on 17 hits in five innings. She walked four and struck out four. Oakwood will visit Talladega College Saturday and Sunday in its second HBCU Athletic Conference series.
