Dover, Del. (Apr. 25, 2023) --- Delaware State's quest for the Northeast Conference women's golf championship as a first-year league member came up short today. The Hornets finished the 11-team tournament in second place, trailing only Sacred Heart, which captured its second straight league championship at the LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. After a record-setting performance in the second round on Monday, Delaware State trailed Sacred Heart by just three strokes entering today's final round, but was outshot by seven to the Pioneers in the last 18 holes. Sacred Heart posted a combined team score of 295 today, second among all teams, to finish the tournament with a three-day total of 895 (+31). The Hornets had the third-best team score for the day at 302 to total 905 (+41) for the tournament. Howard University had the best team score today at 291 to finish third in the tournament at 907, two strokes behind Delaware State.
