DALTON, Ga. – Joshua Barnett was one of four Oakwood University players to finish in double figures Monday night, but it wasn't enough as the Ambassadors fell 124-88 to No. 18 Dalton State inside Bandy Gym. Oakwood fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss. Dalton State improved to 1-0. Barnett finished with 20 points to lead the Ambassadors. He was 7-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. Jordan Hill backed Barnett with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a 3-pointer. Damon Fann scored 13 points, while Devin Faulkner added 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including two 3-pointers. Oakwood shot 46.9 percent (30-of-64) from the field, including 36 percent (9-of-25) from beyond the arc, and 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the free throw line. Qualen Pettus led five Dalton State players in double figures with 26 points. Raylan Barrion and Kota Benson finished with 21 and 20 points, respectively, while Ja'Ron Briggs and Santonio McDaniel added 13 and 11. Dalton State shot 58.2 percent (46-of-79) from the field, including 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from 3-point range, and 58.6 percent (17-of-29) from the charity stripe. Dalton State outscored Oakwood 56-32 in points in the paint and scored 34 points off of 17 turnovers. Oakwood will host Washington Adventist in a doubleheader Saturday night.
