OXFORD, Ala. – Oakwood University had five different players record hits Monday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as Talladega College came away with a 5-2 victory in an HBCUA Athletic Conference game. The Ambassadors took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but were shut out the rest of the way. Anna Jones singled with one out and came around to score on Jordan Howard's double to give Oakwood a 1-0 lead. Mary McCluskey singled to score Howard to make it 2-0, but the Ambassadors managed just two hits the rest of the game. In addition to Jones, Howard and McCluskey, Jalaa Hawkins and Katie Johnson also recorded a hit. Sidney Arnett (2-5) took the loss, allowing five runs, all earned, on eight hits in six innings. She walked three and struck out two. Oakwood fell to 2-14 overall and 1-5 in league play. Oakwood will host Georgia Gwinnett College today. First pitch is 1 p.m. at University Field.
