Teaming with sophomore Johanne Genestay, she secured a 6-0 win at #1 doubles. Bertran then closed out the day with a three-set win over Mar Caneves Bufi at #1 singles. Rookie of the Week Freshman | Graz, Austria In singles, newcomer Florentina Schmidt was able to pick up a huge 6-1, 6-0 victory on Friday vs. Daemen University. She and Mina Randjelovic were also able to secure the doubles point for D'Youville, taking their match by a score of 6-1. Schmidt wasn't able to secure a victory at the ITA's, but showed resilience in a huge bounce-back performance for the Saints, securing the victory over Daemen. ECC Weekly Honor Roll Junior | Tashkent, Uzbekistan Munisa Ashurbekova was crucial in pulling out the 7-0 victory over Daemen on Friday. After taking her doubles match 6-4, helping secure the point for D'Youville, Munisa was able to carry her momentum into singles play, winning by a score of 6-4, 6-3 at #1 singles. She anchors this team as a junior coming off back-to-back conference titles at her previous institution. This is her first dual match singles victory for the Saints, and is a sign of things to come from the Saints’ top singles spot. Lilie Bizouerne, Queens Junior | La Ciotat, France Junior Lilie Bizouerne also went undefeated in ECC action, posting a 2-0 record in both singles and doubles. Partnering with Sixtine Goubet, the duo earned a 6-3 win at #2 doubles. Bizouerne followed up with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory over Zhuozuan Sun at #2 singles to help complete the 7-0 team sweep. Polina Zelentsova, District of Columbia Junior | Chaiky, Ukraine Polina Zelentsova delivered a standout performance for the Firebirds, going 2–0 across No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in UDC’s home match against Jefferson. Zelentsova opened the afternoon by teaming with Célia Bastin for a dominant 6–1 win at the top doubles spot. She then outlasted Jefferson’s top player, Anouk Oderkerk, in a thrilling three-set battle, 7–6, 5–7, 1–0(5).
