AMHERST, N.Y. - Sophomore thrower Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region honors, the USTFCCCA office announced Wednesday afternoon. — Daemen Cross Country/Track & Field (@DaemenXCTF) March 12, 2025 The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award were the Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West. This is the second major honor Oliver has taken home this year as she also earned All-ECC First Team honors at the 2025 ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Oliver competed in six events this indoor season in both shot put and weight throw. The sophomore thrower placed in the top three of either event in five out of six meets and took first in the weight throw twice. She landed atop the podium for weight throw at the Houghton December Classic (Dec. 6) and at the Highlander Invitational (Jan. 25). At the YSU Mid-Major inviational competing in the "Elite Division," Oliver had a season-best weight throw of 15.44 meters, nearly breaking her own program record of 15.55 meters which she set at the 2024 ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships. While at the Brockport Multi-Invitational (Feb. 7-8) she placed seventh in the shot put and set a new personal best with a throw of 11.06 meters. At the ECC Championships this year, the Massena, N.Y., native placed second in the weight throw with a final throw of 14.93 meters to land all-conference accolades. Oliver and the rest of the 'Cats will begin the outdoor portion of their schedule on March 29 at the Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton University. Daemen University features the premier NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 17 intercollegiate teams.
