ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Columbia College received eight first-place votes (108 points) and are picked to win their third start American Midwest Conference women’s basketball title by Conference coaches. The three-time defending Tournament Champions return four key contributors to the programs recent success - Mallory Shetley, DeLaney Horstman, Abby Backes, and Lexi Miller. AMC Tournament MVP Shetley averaged 15.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game last season and combined with fellow NAIA All-American Hostman, who averaged 15.2 points, 11 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game, to provide a dynamic offense punch. The Cougars will fill the void left by graduation of two starters with transfers Lauren Friedrich, last season’s AMC Freshman of the Year for Stephens, and Tori Rubel, a transfer from Division I Tennessee-Martin.
