BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Chowan University women's basketball team opened Conference Carolinas play on the road Saturday afternoon, coming up short in a 62-58 decision at Lees-McRae. The Hawks used a 7-0 scoring run in the second quarter to pull within three at halftime, but couldn't overcome a strong third-quarter push by the Bobcats. Nyeisha Savage turned in a strong performance, recording a double-double and leading the Hawks in three stat categories.
