CLEVELAND – The Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) has announced that Brynn King of Roberts Wesleyan University has been named one of two 2024-25 Scholar-Athletes of the Year, alongside Brayden Long of Slippery Rock University. King, an RWU graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA, represents the highest standard of what it means to be a student-athlete—excelling academically, athletically, and in leadership roles on and off the field. "Brynn and Brayden exemplify the core values of Division II athletics—passion, purpose, and performance in every facet of student life," said Will Prewitt, Commissioner of the GAC and President of the D2 CCA. "They are not only champions in their sports, but leaders in the classroom and their communities." “I am incredibly proud to have another opportunity to honor Brynn King as the 2024-25 CCA Scholar Athlete of the Year," added ECC Commissioner Jessica Grasso. "She has made history in the ECC with her amazing collegiate athletic career by illustrating the true overall values of a D2 student-athlete. Her accomplishments are ones to be inspired by and celebrated." King completed one of the most decorated pole vaulting careers in NCAA Division II history, earning her the title of 2024–25 NCAA Division II Academic All-American of the Year for Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country. King won back-to-back NCAA indoor and outdoor national championships, set multiple Division II records, and became the first woman in DII history to clear 15 feet in both indoor and outdoor competition. She holds the DII record with a vault of 4.75m (15-7) set at the 2025 Texas Relays. King capped off her historic season by qualifying for and competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing tied for 22nd while representing Team USA. She also earned First-Team All-America honors, was named the USTFCCCA National Field Athlete of the Year, and received the East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. King graduated with a 4.0 GPA, having previously earned a degree from Duke University in evolutionary anthropology before transferring to Roberts Wesleyan for graduate study.
