Big South Baseball Summary - March 17

The Big South baseball conference season began on Friday, with Campbell, Presbyterian and Charleston Southern picking up wins to start the league campaign.  The Fighting Camels were 12-2 winners over Winthrop, as Cade Kuehler set the tone from the get-go, striking out the side in order in the first. The junior posted a line of 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K.  PC raced out to an early lead and withstood a late rally from host High Point as the Blue Hose tallied a 7-6 victory over the Panthers. Senior Tanner Smith tossed 3.2 scoreless innings to preserve the conference opening win for the Blue Hose.  Charleston Southern scored in every inning but two en route to topping UNC Asheville, 8-2.  The Bucs got things started early and it came on one swing as Chandler Tuupo left the yard with a two-run shot to left center as CSU took a 2-0 lead.
