BIG 4TH PERIOD PROPELS OAKWOOD PAST WILBERFORCE IN HBCUAC ACTION

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Oakwood University used a big fourth period Thursday night to overcome a seven-point deficit and went on to beat Wilberforce University 83-73 in an HBCU Athletic Conference women's basketball game inside Gaston Lewis Arena.   The Ambassadors outscored the Bulldogs 25-8 in the final frame, including 23-5 over the last eight-plus minutes, to stay unbeaten in league play.   The win lifted Oakwood to 4-4 overall and 3-0 in league play. It was the Ambassadors' third straight victory. Wilberforce, which has now lost six straight games, fell to 1-7 and 0-3.   Kamaria Murray led the Ambassadors with a game-high 21 points. She was only 7-of-19 from the field, but made five 3-pointers. Murray also had six assists and two rebounds.   Saniya Keys finished with 19 points and five rebounds, while Trenisha Adams had 18 points, including six 3-pointers, eight rebounds and seven assists.   Oakwood shot 43.5 percent (30-of-69) from the field, including 36.1 percent (13-of-36) from 3-point range, and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the free throw line.   Kristen Cantrell led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Laniya Early and Constance Chaplin scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.   Wilberforce shot 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the field, including 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from the charity stripe.   Oakwood is back in action Sunday afternoon at Washington Adventist.   Follow the Ambassadors Visit the official home of Oakwood University athletics at Oakwood University - Official Athletics Website.
