BANKS, WILEY NAMED OAKWOOD'S FRESHMEN OF THE WEEK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Harmonie Banks and Alexis Wiley have been named Oakwood University's Co-Freshmen of the Week for the Week of August 25-31.   Banks and Wiley were outstanding in helping the Ambassadors go 2-0 in the Talladega College Labor Day Tournament last weekend.   Banks, a 6-0 middle blocker from Denver, Co., had nine kills, three digs, three blocks and one assist in Oakwood's 3-2 win over Talladega College. She followed up that effort with seven kills in a 3-1 win over Baptist University of Florida.   All total, Banks finished with 16 kills, three digs, three blocks and one assist in the tournament.   Wiley, a 5-2 setter from Sachse, Tx., had 11 assists, eight digs and three kills in the win over Talladega College. She then posted her first career double-double, finishing with 12 kills, 15 digs and one kill against Baptist University of Florida.   All total, Wiley finished with 23 assists, 23 digs and four kills in the tournament. Banks and Wiley will be back in action Wednesday when Oakwood hosts LeMoyne-Owen College in its home opener inside Ashby Auditorium.  First serve is set for 5 p.m. Follow the Ambassadors Visit the official home of Oakwood University athletics at Oakwood University - Official Athletics Website.
