University of the Virgin Islands(UVI) Freshman guard Ashukamayah Phillips earned the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week title. This award is only available to freshmen and transfer students who are new to the conference. Phillips was selected out of a pool of nominees as the winner of this award by the conference voting committee on Monday afternoon.
