Recap courtesy of Queens College Sports Information ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – Back in the big dance for the second straight year and 10th time overall in program history, the #36 Queens College women's tennis team matched up against #4 University of North Georgia Nighthawks at Sanlando Park in the NCAA First Round match. BOX SCORE Seeded #13, the Knights matched up against the Nighthawks for the second time in program history since the 2019 Tournament. However, North Georgia would complete their second sweep over the Knights with senior Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) the lone Knight close to a victory Wednesday morning. The Knights conclude the 2025 season with an overall record of 10-6. DOUBLES PLAY The Knights #1 doubles pair of Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland) and Saga Berggren (Uddevalla, Sweden) matched up against nationally-ranked #7 Angelina Linnikova and Carolina Reis but would fall short as the Nighthawks earned a 6-1 victory for an early 1-0 lead. The other two doubles pairs would keep the match close with the Knights #2 pair of graduate student Eva Rivoal (Saint-Denis-de-Pile, France) and junior Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) up 5-4 over Emily Bush and Linn Goerdes. But the Knights #3 pair of graduate student Kyra Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and junior Marie Bertran (Villelaure, France) fell 6-4 against Ashley Moinard and Vasiliss Kupriyanova as North Georgia took a 1-0 lead into singles play. SINGLES PLAY It would be tough going in singles play as the Knights were unable to rally. Makal matched up against nationally-ranked #2 Linnikova as the senior fell to the score of 0-6, 1-6 at the #1 court. At #3 court senior Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) fell 0-6, 1-6 against Kupriyanova as the Knights took a 3-0 lead. Lamy was the lone Knight to win a set as she earned a 6-4 victory at #4 court over Goerdes and was one point away, 5-0 from giving the Knights their first point of the day. However, Rivoal would fall short against nationally-ranked #55 Moinard to the score of 4-6, 2-6 as the Knights season came to close to the score of 4-0. It would be a season filled with accomplishments for head coach Alan Nagel and the Knights which included winning the East Coast Conference regular season title, the ECC Tournament title, earning their 23rd NCAA appearance, earning a national ranking as high as 21, and their 10th appearance as a Sweet 16 participant.
