SALEM, VIRGINIA (March 25, 2023) – The top eight bowling teams took to the lanes for day one of the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Bowling Championship at Lee-Hi Lanes in Salem, Virginia. Day one of the 2023 CIAA Bowling Championship started with Individual play. The 2022 Rookie and Player of the year, Carrington Hayward from Livingstone College finished with the highest average of 193.00. Followed by the 2023 Rookie and Player of the Year Brooke Smith from Shaw University with an average of 186.75. Her teammate, Necarri Moore averaged 175.75. Fayetteville State would claim the fourth, fifth, and sixth places. Jayda Gignac finished with an average of 169.67, Cecilia Chafin averaged 167.50, and Denise Brown averaged 165.67.
